Recently completed Robles Elementary School in Arizona's Altar Valley
School District provides a remarkably successful school construction
case study. After choosing a functional, cost-saving steel structure
for the school's buildings, Superintendent Douglas Roe turned his
attention to the facility's furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E)
needs. Following an open-bidding process, Roe selected Virco's
industry-leading PlanSCAPE® team to manage the project's FF&E
contract.
Among the items recommended to Roe were award-winning I.Q.® Series
chairs and student desks which combine ergonomic contours, sturdy
construction and attractive styling for high-value furniture solutions.
Along with over 900 of these premium I.Q. products, Roe also purchased
an array of additional PlanSCAPE items to furnish and equip the school's
educational, administrative and multi-purpose areas.
Working with an FF&E budget of $300,000, the PlanSCAPE team helped Roe
achieve substantial savings by getting the items he wanted for $239,000.
What's more, the furnishings were delivered and installed within a
four-day window to accommodate the tight time frame associated with the
school's opening.
